These things did not happen:
Petition Review
The AAG is responsible for carefully reviewing the dependency petition prepared by DCYF to ensure that it aligns with the facts, evidence, and applicable laws.
A simple cursory audit of the information in the file should have elicited further questions:
-Look at the actual intakes
-Look at the police call record
-Look at the CPS file
A competent AAG would have had immediate questions about why DCYF was falsifying and hiding so much information.
This should have been followed up with questions and additional review of the documentation.
Assessing Evidence
The AAG should verify that the statements in the petition are supported by credible evidence, such as caseworker reports, medical records, police reports, or witness statements.
This did not happen and a family and child were harmed.
